Artists

Makoto Aida
Makoto Aida is a contemporary artist who has been at the forefront for over 30 years since his full-fledged artist debut at the "fo(u)rtunes" exhibition held at the X-ray Art Institute in 1993. In the 2000s, he produced several large-scale paintings such as "Waterfall Painting" (2007-2010) and "Grey Mountains" (2009-2011), which garnered widespread attention for their sensational expressions. In recent years, Aida has continued to create installations and video works, making the presentation of painting works somewhat rare for him.

The new works to be showcased in this exhibition are imbued with the simulationism that Aida has pursued for a long time. Above all, his humor in referring to these paintings as "not shining or moving" can be seen as a kind of critique of the activity of exhibiting in the space of Azabudai Hills.
