Shimokitazawa Arts is pleased to announce to have a solo exhibition "H・y・m・n" by Yoshino Mao. Yoshino Mao was born in Aichi pref., Japan, 1996 and graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Crafts, Ceramics Laboratory in 2021. After graduating, she launched a design unit, MELTedMEADOW, and has an atelier in Gifu pref., which is rich in nature. Their activities are wide-ranging, and they provide works such as paintings, lettering, and designs to various brands and stores, including Comme des Garçons GIRL.
Since childhood, Yoshino Mao has been drawing pictures and giving them as gifts to convey something to people. Even now, as a professional, she still has the same thoughts at the core. This is probably why we feel a certain warmth in her powerful and stylish works, which are created with bright colors and bold lines. Just like the hymn implied by the title of this solo exhibition, please come and read Yoshino Mao's "letters" that bless the lives of each person who views them, the homes and the city in which they are displayed.
