Akita Museum of Modern Art opened in Akita Furusato Mura on April 20, 1994. The museum has a collection of works painted by artists associated with Akita from the late Edo period to the present, including "Akita Ranga" produced by feudal lords and feudal warriors in the mid to late Edo period.
