This exhibition introduces the print collection of Masaki Shibata, born in 1948 in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. Shibata, who grew up in Numakunai Town, Iwate District, Iwate Prefecture (now Iwate Town), was influenced by his father, Shoichi, who opened "Fuji Gallery" in Mikkamachi, Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, in 1946, shortly after the war, and developed a close relationship with artists such as Shiko Munakata. While working at a newspaper company, Shibata himself has been collecting artworks.
In the first exhibition held in the spring of 2022, print works from Japan and abroad were displayed, focusing on Georges Rouault's print series "Miserere." The second exhibition will feature Georges Rouault’s "14 Engravings for "Les Fleurs du Mal," as well as prints by Rembrandt, Goya, Millet, Renoir, and others.
