The passage from “Diary from Florence" quoted in this exhibition was written by the 22-year-old Rilke in May 1898 and was the guiding principle of the collaborative work begun by Masayuki Towata and Yasuyuki Matsumoto in 1988, who met as teenagers in 1978.
