Who creates stories? Is it humans? “Heated Generative Systems” challenges that assumption. Ceramics are fired in a kiln. Bismuth crystallizes from heat. AIs evolve the stories born from these encounters. This is the third curated exhibition at GALLABO TOKYO, an experimental art space that blends galleries and laboratories and launched this January. This exhibition is an experimental exploration connecting the generation of matter through heat with cultural evolution within a society of AIs. The venue features ceramic works and bismuth crystal works. These are the outputs of two generative systems driven by heat. A third generative system?the society of AIs?is added to the mix. The narrative born from the encounter between the ceramic works and the bismuth crystal works is transmitted and transformed within that society, thereby evolving culturally. The art-science collective Matter+Mind Collective presents a new landscape of artificial life that emerges at the intersection of material generation and cultural evolution. What visitors witness is not a finished work. It is the very process itself?one in which the three generative systems interact to continuously produce unpredictable narratives.
