Mei Mei
Marta Corada, who goes by the name of Mei Mei, breathes life into the myths that give off a mysterious and unique worldview through her artwork, inviting the viewer into a fantasy world with her fascinating and contemporary expression.

Mei Mei creates her work using the craft technique of felting. Felting has been used to make clothes and ornaments. Among them, she and her family have been using complex needle felting techniques to spread the possibilities of traditional techniques to the world of contemporary art, and have exhibited their work at the Saatchi Gallery in London, among others.

Corada studied art and photography at the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Barcelona in 2008. Since then, she has been actively exhibiting her work in galleries around the world, including London, Madrid, and Shanghai, and has gained wide recognition for her work. Her work has won numerous awards and is held in private collections in the UK and abroad.

In 2016, under the artist name Mei Mei, Corada began to work with wool sculptures combining ceramics and felt, marking a major turning point for the artist. This is her first full-scale solo exhibition since then.

Corada believes that everything that exists in the world has a soul. In other words, everything in this world is like God and can be called kami (holy being). The works completed by her family are beings with souls separated from their own naves. The exhibition is titled “Kami" to express such feelings toward the works on display.
