Hokkaido Obihiro Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Michio Hoshino
Photographer Michio Hoshino, who lived in the extreme northern region of Alaska, captured the harsh yet beautiful nature and the people living there, leaving behind stories that appear and vanish before one's eyes, accompanied by sincere prose. He had harbored an interest in the nature of the north from an early age and visited Alaska for the first time at the age of 20. Subsequently, he embarked on the path of a photographer.

This exhibition, under the theme of "encounters," will introduce photographs taken from the records of villages in Alaska visited in his youth to the Kamchatka Peninsula, where he was shooting until just before his passing, along with Hoshino's writings and valuable materials.
