Miki Kataoka Copperplate Engraving Exhibition

Finished

Artists

Miki Kataoka
Miki Kataoka was born in Fukui Prefecture, Japan, and studied Japanese painting at a university in Kyoto before specializing in copperplate engraving. The motifs she captures with the aquatint technique are only a medium for capturing light, and the essence of her expression exists on the canvas as something that cannot be fully captured. In his solo exhibition held in September this year, he used an entire machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse) in Shimogyo-ku, Tokyo, to create an installation centered on an alcove.

In this exhibition, the works will be exhibited on the wall of a gallery, allowing visitors to appreciate them in a new space. Due to the enormous amount of time required for production, the number of works is small and opportunities for presentation are limited.
