Setagaya Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Sotaro Miyagi
The designer Miyagi Sotaro (1951-2011) died prematurely at the age of 60. After graduating from university, Miyagi began working at the Hamano Institute, where he learned to design everything from buildings to interiors. Miyagi set out on his own in 1988, living in Setagaya while working as a designer and design consultant. This exhibition considers the potential of design in everyday life by examining Miyagi’s wide range of works, including daily necessities, stationery, household appliances, and hotel signs.
