The museum rotates its collection of over 4,300 artworks approximately six times a year, exhibiting Japanese and Western modern art themes.

Gallery 1 features work primarily by artists associated with Ibaraki such as Taikan Yokoyama, Usen Ogawa, and Tsune Nakamura, showcasing pieces that evoke the feeling of summer. Additionally, for the fiscal year 2023, one letter each from the first and second half of the 148 letters written by Ogawa will debut, newly acquired by the museum, along with related artwork.
