Momo Yoshino
Momo Yoshino was born in Tokyo in 1988, graduated from Tama Art University in 2012, and completed her graduate studies in oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2015. She is currently based in Saitama, Japan. Yoshino says, "I want to extend my paintings by exploring their relationship with space," and his works are reminiscent of Op Art, combining Western linear perspective with Eastern air perspective. Her "Kami Series," in which she uses origami as a motif and paints it as if it were actually uneven, and his huge road surface paintings that exceed 90 meters in length, are characterized by a peculiar style that brings the viewer into the work itself.

Since childhood, Yoshino has been fascinated by the unique spatiality of Japanese culture, such as realistic drawings in illustrated books, trompe l'oeil paintings by Maurits Cornelis Escher, and sliding door paintings, and has been influenced in many ways by them.

Yoshino aims to create new and different spaces that seem to crack open the every day through works that explore the relationship between objects. She will present new works that focus on the interest of the blank spaces created by adding depth of perspective to each design, using as materials the good old things hidden in daily life, such as sliding doors, ceramics, and menko (a type of Japanese cotton ball) that he collects.
