Momoyo Hayakawa
Kinkan Gallery is pleased to present Bright Time, Bright Place, an exhibition by Momoyo Hayakawa, on view from March 20 to April 12. Using pencil and watercolor, Hayakawa continues to draw familiar objects, approaching them as if slipping into their smallest details. A gentle warmth resides within these details, spreading across the entire work while quietly resisting the density of the brushstrokes.

The exhibition title Bright Time, Bright Place resonates like a phrase through which the artist reconsiders and affirms her own approach to drawing. Living and drawing are closely intertwined for Hayakawa, and as an answer to observing and carefully rendering familiar motifs, her words—“restoring things to their rightful form”—seem to settle deeply and naturally.

We hope that, through the sharing between the artist and the viewers of what the paintings bring forth, something like a question may arise, rather than a definitive answer. We warmly invite you to experience the exhibition.
