Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa is the first of a series of art festivals co-created with the local community, and will be held under the theme of “moon".
The "Museum of the Moon," an installation by British artist Luke Jerram based on NASA's moon photo, will be installed as a symbolic object in the streets near the train line and Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine, along with a balloon with a rabbit motif by Australian-based artist Amanda Parer. Both of these large-scale works have been exhibited around the world, and this will be the first time they are shown in Japan.
This project aims to create a lively Shimokita area together with the local community. Stores supporting this project will offer original menus and collaborative products based on the theme of “moon". In addition, artists and creators will be invited to exhibit their work, develop their own projects, and collaborate with sponsoring stores to create digital artwork with NFT to commemorate visits to their stores.
Visitors can enjoy walking around the town to collect artwork and digital art with NFT while enjoying the autumn tradition of "Otsukimi" (moon viewing) in Shimokita, a town full of diverse cultures.
