Mschf
Mschf, founded in 2019, is a conceptual collective developing elaborate interventions that expose and leverage the absurdity of our cultural, political, and monetary systems.

Mschf employs the latest technology to produce works that radically and ironically depict the state of today's highly consumer-oriented society. Their artistic practice, in the context of our present day and age where sneakers are considered as art and art has become a commodity, serves to capture the industrialization of art itself in a self-deprecating manner. For example, the "Satan Shoes,” a work which ultimately resulted in a lawsuit, produced by filling the air sole of the Nike Airmax97 with human blood, explored the boundary between the copyright business and artistic creativity on a deeper and more profound level.

The exhibition, Msch's first in Japan, will feature works from their Celebrity iPhones series and Wavy sneakers series presented at Perrotin New York in 2022. The works implicitly present the ambivalent conflict between mass-psychology-based desires that are triggered nonstop through the media, and the protection of privacy and personal information. In their Wavy sneakers series, sneakers from various brands are warped into wave-like shapes. This series is a mischievous critique of the extent to which brand logos and designs, whose rights are secured by trademark registration, are valid when they are distorted in this way and take on a different form.

This serves as a teaser for Mschf’s solo exhibition that is scheduled to take place in early 2025 at Nanzuka Underground.
