Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013 and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2023. To commemorate this anniversary, the Yamatane Museum of Art will hold a special exhibition featuring Japanese paintings and ukiyo-e woodblock prints depicting Mount Fuji, as well as Japanese paintings of cherry blossoms, another symbol of Japan.

Fuji has long been a source of various forms of art. Fuji has long been a source of various art forms, especially the world-famous ukiyo-e paintings of Katsushika Hokusai and Hiroshige Utagawa. In addition to Hokusai's "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" (Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji) and Hiroshige's "Tokaido Gojyusantsugi" (The Five-Three Stations of the Tokaido), this exhibition will feature a special display of the picture book "Fugaku Hyakkei" (One hundred views of Mount Fuji) in which Hokusai further developed the theme of Mount Fuji.

Fuji has been depicted in modern and contemporary Japanese paintings for generations, and some painters have repeatedly depicted the mountain in their works. Fuji, such as Taikan Yokoyama's "Reinpu Fuji" and Hitoshi Komatsu's fiery "Red Fuji", are among the many Fuji paintings by the masters.

In addition, the exhibition features masterpieces of cherry blossoms by modern and contemporary Japanese painters, including "Daigo" by Togyu Okumura, a representative work from the museum's collection.
