Museum of Darkness and Light

Tagawa Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Sadahito Nakamura, Shota Shiozumi, Taro Suzuki, Sanami Yamada
In the city of Tagawa, which once thrived with the coal mining industry, there existed two contrasting worlds: the underground dominated by darkness ("yami") and the aboveground filled with light ("hikari"). This exhibition aims to recreate the regional characteristics of Chikuho and Tagawa in the museum's exhibition rooms.

Works by four contemporary artists, each capturing "yami" and "hikari" from their respective perspectives, will fill the exhibition space. Through interactive installations and experiential media art, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy art with their whole bodies—seeing, touching, and listening to artworks that stimulate various senses.
