Wish Less gallery is delighted to announce “Alone in the Wilderness,” a solo exhibition by Nana Soeda, a painter who draws on the themes of resentment and sadness resulting from unreasonable matters occurring in modern society. Soeda’s humorous characters, with a somehow disturbing aura, speak about the anger and sadness of humankind who are exhausted in mind and body by the modern world, sometimes weeping with them, and at other times healing them. Her paintings, which are created by selecting motifs from a large number of preliminary sketches and painted with emotional brushstrokes, clearly show the power of the artist herself. Rather than expressing negative emotions in a straightforward manner, she transforms them into adorable paintings and animations by using familiar character visuals.
