Seibundo Gallery, operated by Seibundo LLC, presents Nature's Design, a group exhibition featuring Kooichi Hyooogo, Masaki Adachi and Ryota Kanno, opening on July 23, 2026.

Bringing together three artists with distinct approaches to material and perception, the exhibition explores the forms, order and transformations inherent in nature. Working with charcoal, paper, wood, light and optical phenomena, each artist reveals a different way of engaging with the natural world. Set within the wood-lined space of Seibundo Gallery, the works enter into a quiet dialogue with one another.

Rather than treating nature as a decorative motif, Nature's Design reconsiders the forms, structures and processes embedded in materials and natural phenomena. Kooichi Hyooogo transforms wood through carbonization, revealing the deep black surfaces, cracks, textures and traces of time left by fire. Masaki Adachi works with white and natural tones, paper, wood, architectural structures, and negative space to create subtle relationships between body and space. Ryota Kanno explores light, reflection, transparency and fluctuation, drawing attention to the sensory qualities that emerge between material and phenomenon.

Together, the three artists present nature not as landscape but as a dynamic process of transformation and relation. The exhibition brings the rich black of charcoal, the quiet openness of white space and the shifting presence of light into conversation, creating a contemplative environment that echoes the changing light and shadows of summer.
