On Saturday, December 14, the publication のぼる 一 (noboru one): genealogies will be launched along with an exhibition at the anarchist queer NAMNAM Space in Koenji. のぼる 一 (noboru one): genealogies is the second issue of the zine created by the collective,* in which the members sought to reflect upon their bloodlines and the possibilities of queer family as a form of healing. Combining photography, intimate messaging, and poetic wordplay, the zine brings together experiences of intergenerational trauma, illness, healing, and belonging. The exhibition dis-embodies fragments of the zine and their expansions.
The launch will be soundscaped by ato夢 and a discussion with members of the collective will be facilitated by Chelsea Szendi Schieder and Christina Yi. On Saturday, December 21, the exhibition will close with a live DJ set by noboru member aliwen.
*noboru is a collective based in Tokyo, inquiring about gender and media, critical materialities, and sensory ethnography. The members—aliwen, Hanna Hirakawa, Chloe Paré—inquire about their personal experiences through their specialized knowledges and the publication of zines, aiming to start conversations around ecology, queerness, and randomness.
