Nobuo Michelangelo Takano
Fujifilm Square will be showing photographic works by internationally acclaimed fashion photographer Nobuo Michelangelo Takano, the first Japanese photographer ever hired to do a photoshoot by Vogue Brasil. Born in Japan, Takano moved to Brazil when he was 13 because of his father's work, where he developed a unique sense of beauty and a worldly view of life growing up in a Latin community. Driven by the multicultural cosmopolitan flare of the fashion industry, Takano took his first steps as a fashion photographer in the 1970s affront an energetic backdrop of “miraculous” economic growth across the country. His unique style drew attention and landed him a job with Vogue Brasil in 1985, making him the first Japanese to receive such a coveted offer.

Takano maintained a long working relationship with the magazine while broadening his range of activity to Europe, the US, and Japan. Takano continues today to work around the globe and with various media at the forefront of the fashion industry. This exhibition will treat you to the glamor and charm of the fashion world that Takano captures with his delightful mix of delicateness inherent to his Japanese roots and the free-spirited colorful expression he adorns from his Latin upbringing in Brazil.
