Odilon Redon, Roberto Matta
This exhibition introduces the fantastical prints of Odilon Redon, representative of French Symbolism, and the paintings guided by the subconscious of Roberto Matta, who participated in the Surrealist movement.

Odilon Redon created 42 lithographs (including the cover) based on Gustave Flaubert's novel "The Temptation of Saint Anthony" from 1888 to 1896. Known for depicting a magical world resembling hallucinations, Redon used black, which he termed "the most essential color among all colors," as his predominant color. He produced the first set in 1888 (11 pieces, limited to 60 copies), followed by the second set in 1889 (7 pieces, limited to 60 copies), and the third set in 1896 (initial edition of 24 pieces, limited to 50 copies) and a 1933 edition (22 pieces, limited to 220 copies, published in 1938). This exhibition will showcase all 22 pieces from the third edition, known as "The Temptation of Saint Anthony 2nd Version," (with intermittent display changes).

Matta resonated with Surrealist automatism, a method of automatic writing akin to a medium's unconscious movement of the brush, and developed his theories over more than 50 years. This exhibition will present 10 artworks that depict the world drawn from Matta's profound depths of the mind.
