Public, place, practice... Prouvé’s creations were underpinned by the social idea of making furniture for a broader audience, contributing to greater comfort in the general living environment and improving society. That’s why many of his designs were initially created for public spaces and institutions like universities, sch, ools and offices. Following this vision and his hands-on approach, Skwat and Vitra welcome you, to freely use and work at the P space, which is equipped with Jean Prouvé’s furniture. Through this project, Skwat seeks to challenge existing institutional boundaries by attempting to formulate alternatives that complement and expand existing institutional domains. The P space intends to be an informal addition to the ongoing Jean Prouvé exhibition, where visitors are allowed to actually experience Prouvé’s works and his vision outside the conventional context of museums and galleries. During the opening of the P space, Twelvebooks’ warehouse will operate as usual. The basement of Skwat, therefore, continues to implement its multifunctional character.
