Parco Advertising 1969 - 2024: Celebrating 50 Years of Advertising at Parco

Parco Factory (Hiroshima)
Finished
This exhibition celebrates the 30th anniversary of Hiroshima Parco's opening.

Following last year's exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Shibuya Parco's opening, this will be the first time such an exhibition is held in a regional location. As a special exhibit exclusive to the Hiroshima venue, advertisements related to the opening of Hiroshima Parco will also be displayed.

This exhibition will reinterpret the history of advertising creativity spanning over half a century since our establishment in 1969, from a contemporary perspective, offering a comprehensive view.

While advertising serves as a form of corporate promotion and sales promotion, Parco's advertising has been disseminated as expressions transcending the realm of commercials, through collaborations with top creators of each era for over 50 years.

The venue is structured to glimpse the origins of Parco's advertising by traversing four eras: "2000s and beyond," "1990s," "1980s," and "1970s." Each area is hypothetically designated with keywords corresponding to the transition of the zeitgeist of each era, such as "Prophecy" (1970s), "Advertising" (1980s), "Shibuya" (1990s), and "Art" (2000s and beyond), shaping each era accordingly.

Posters and commercial works displayed will be selected through dialogues with two guest curators for each area and will be shown in the exhibition venue through dialogue-style presentations. The contents of these dialogues will also be featured in the official leaflets available for sale at the venue.
