The Kunstmuseum Berggruen in Berlin, Germany, opened in 1996 to house and exhibit the collection of German-born art dealer Heinz Berggruen (1914-2007), and was renamed to its current name in 2004. This is the first exhibition in Japan to present 97 works from the museum's collection. The exhibition traces the great footsteps of 20th-century European art by presenting work by Picasso from his early years to his later years, as well as work by his most admired contemporaries, including Klee, Matisse, and Giacometti, along with 11 works from the collection of the National Museum of Art in Japan.
