Shomyoji Temple, an ancient temple in Bushu Kanazawa contains portraits of the successive heads of the Kanazawa Hojo clan, who held important positions in the Kamakura shogunate (1185-1333). Many statues of priests of the Saidaiji school have been handed down in Shomyoji Temple, which was reformed after Sanetoki Hojo took refuge in Eison, including Shinkai Myoseibo (1229-1304), who was promoted by Gokurakuji Ninsei and entered Shomyoji Temple from Shimono-Yakushiji Temple to become the founder of the temple. Also on display are ancient documents, sacred texts, portraits of priests, vestments, and other items related to Buddhist memorial services, such as memorial services on the anniversary of the death of the founder and memorial services for ancestors.
