The Mito Civic Auditorium will open on July 2, 2023. The architect Toyo Ito has designed numerous public buildings, including the Sendai Mediatheque.
This exhibition commemorates the opening of the Mito Civic Auditorium by presenting a selection of Ito's representative public buildings, including "Sendai Mediatheque" (opened in 2001), "Matsumoto Civic Art Center" (opened in 2004), "Za Koenji" (opened in 2009), "Minna no Mori: Gifu Mediacosmos" (opened in 2015), "Mito Civic Auditorium" (opened in 2016), and "Mito Municipal Hall" (opened in 2017). Mito Civic Hall" will be added to the five facilities. Ito's thoughts on the design of "Mito Civic Hall" will be conveyed, and the significance of today's public architecture and what it should be in the future will be discussed. Venue: 1F Yagura Plaza
