Raphaël Zarka
Raphaël Zarka has interpreted the act of revisiting art history and reusing past works as a process that unleashes a new form of energy, presenting a reinterpretation of architecture and art.

"Riding Modern Art" (2007) captures skateboarders performing acrobatic slides on sculptures of public art in the city through a series of black-and-white photographs. The dynamism of movement inherent in geometric public art pieces is visualized by the skateboarders, representing the energy and liberation originally contained within the sculptures. The series was published as a book with the same title in France in 2022.

In preparation for the Paris Olympics in 2024, Zarka installed an outdoor sculpture titled "Rampe Cycloïdale" in front of the Rouen City Hall, serving as a platform for skateboarders starting from the end of 2023. Additionally, a new "Rampe Cycloïdale" is scheduled to be installed on the square in front of the Pompidou Center from June 15 to September 15, 2024.
