Osaka Culturarium Tempozan (formerly the Suntory Museum), designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, will host the "Reshaped Reality" exhibition in collaboration with the German research institute IKA (The Institute for Cultural Exchange), asking the question, "What is a human being?" Hyper-realistic physical expressions induce illusions in the viewer and shake the contours of life. This exhibition will provoke new artistic experiences and philosophical perspectives, and will make viewers reconsider the nature of humanity. It will respond to the Expo's "Designing a Future Society for Life," and will serve as an opportunity to deepen "consideration of people and life."
Hyper-realistic sculptures realistically depict the form, contours, and texture of the human body or body parts, creating visual illusions for the viewer. Since the late 1960s, various contemporary artists have used traditional techniques to challenge the philosophical ideas and new artistic experiences brought about by realistic expressions based on the physical, lifelike appearance of the human body. In the year of the World Expo, with the theme of "Designing a Future Society for Life," this exhibition will once again consider "What is a human being?" This exhibition, which has been highly acclaimed and attracted many visitors around the world, will be held in Japan for the first time.
