Richard Sapper
Richard Sapper is a product designer born in Munich. He has worked in industrial design for home appliances, telephones, lighting, sundries, furniture, and personal computers, and became a consultant for IBM in 1981. Sapper's work has received numerous awards, including the "Compasso d'Oro," the most prestigious award in Italian design, and has been selected for inclusion in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

This exhibition will provide society with hints for future design by displaying approximately 30 of Sapper's works and products from the perspective of logic and sensibility for a pleasurable experience. It will also introduce the projects and works of Professor Kazuhiko Yamazaki of the University's Department of Creative Innovation, who has worked with Sapper for more than 25 years. This will be the first exhibition of Sapper's work to be held not only in Japan but also in Asia. In addition to his works, sketches, wooden models, and detailed explanatory panels will also be on display.
