Artro is pleased to present Rina Cho and Nozomu Matsumoto’s duo exhibition, “Aerial Tour,” from 23 May to 9 June 2024.
Aerial Tour is a development of the 3DCG video work of the same title presented at the 40th-anniversary exhibition of Frac Île-de-France in Paris, is a computer-generated aerial tour of a world ruled by creatures genetically modified by mankind to resist climate change. The landscape and meteorological phenomena that occurred before the extinction of the human species are transcribed to guide this tour, developing after the extinction of the human species, these creatures are observed overseeing a world where total climate control prevails. Human management of humanity seems to leave a legacy: complex weather systems are transformed into emoticons of suns and clouds, environments evolve instantly and on demand. This exhibition pushes the limits of the current fascination with environmental control, management and optimization, in a scenario that is both dark and charming.
