Rune Naito "Roots of Kawaii"

Kobe Fashion Museum
Finished
This exhibition introduces Rune Naito, known as a pioneer of kawaii culture and a leader of Japanese girl culture in the 1950s and 1960s. Naito Rene made her big break with the cover and illustrations for the fashion magazine "Junior Soreiyu," which was popular at the time, and has laid the foundation of pop culture to this day with her illustrations, designs, fancy goods, and other works. In a space where “kawaii", a word that has now become popular overseas, is condensed, rare original drawings, reproductions of Rune girl costumes, and fancy goods, including some works exhibited for the first time, will be gathered.
