In an era where the word “cool” can sound superficial, we dare to hold it up directly. One artist reflects the “martial spirit” in the residues of modern life. Another reimagines the form of the samurai. Another challenges through typography.
When the three expressions intersect, the samurai gather in the present, resonating like sound. Not by simply drawing, but by projecting their way of life. Tradition meets street culture, intellect crosses with playfulness. Through the act of talking about one’s “favorite samurai,” history and the individual connect.
This is our way of taking on the challenge— and the very reason we named this exhibition “Samurai Fes.”
