Sazae-san Anime Exhibition

Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum / Hasegawa Machiko Memorial Museum
Until Sep 6
For generations, Sazae-san has celebrated the humor and warmth of everyday life. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the original four-panel manga's newspaper debut. Two years ago, the animated series celebrated its 55th anniversary, extending its Guinness World Records title as the world's longest-running animated television series. Midori Kato, who has voiced Sazae since the very first episode, also renewed the record as the longest-serving female voice actor for a single character.

Returning to the museum after a two-year hiatus, this exhibition turns the spotlight on the Sazae-san family's everyday blunders.

Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, and the members of the Sazae-san family are no different. Whether because of their personalities or their generation, each finds themselves in amusing situations that lead to laughter, tears, frustration or embarrassment. Bringing together a selection of these memorable mishaps, the exhibition celebrates the gentle humor woven into the family's everyday lives.
