The Seto Inland Sea has a reputation for tranquility, but it in fact has the fastest currents in Japan. The complexity of the topography, with some 700 islands, contributes to the strength of these currents, with differences in water levels and the speed of the tidal currents creating rotation. Naruto Strait is a prime example.

The same thing happens in the world of art. Inside the seemingly calm hearts of people, the acts of trying to change the way we see the world or capture memories become small whirlpools that eventually morph into vortexes before our eyes. The name of this event was coined from the idea that human thought is not a straight line, but rather a spiral. This exhibition focuses on artists who have been nurtured by the scenery, climate, and culture of the Setouchi region and who will open the way to the future.
