Shigeki Matsuyama
Shigeki Matsuyama has been working as a freelance illustrator since 1998, and after 2011 began creating more conceptual work. His portrait work is characterized by tracing only the "eyes" of real photographs and using dazzle camouflage like geometric patterns.

Matsuyama paints "portraits of modern people" based on photographs of real people's faces uploaded on the Internet, such as social networking sites. Using a video projector, Matsuyama traced only the "eyes" and changed the outlines from the model to a completely different person in terms of race, gender, hair style, and body shape, thereby expressing the dangers of the anonymity of the Internet and the uncertainty of information.
By using the eyes of a real person as a model, the portraits are meant to be a reflection of the viewer's friends, family members, or perhaps even the viewer himself. The work suggests the possibility that the portrait could be a friend, family member, or even the viewer himself, and raises issues such as digital tattoos and deep fakes, which have become social problems in recent years. This exhibition will feature 19 new works.
