Shinji Asai
This solo exhibition by Shinji Asai is part of a project by the roving Gallery Ayatsumugi.

Asai's watercolor paintings feature motifs resembling characters that seem to start chatting in the middle of the night. Folk craft items from Nagano, such as wood carvings and kokeshi dolls, as well as elements of nature like lakes and trees, appear on the canvas in a complex and fused manner, expressed using the unique fluctuation of water and color in watercolors.

Currently, while living in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture, Asai not only engages in artistic activities in his studio but also participates in the operation of the Primitive Sense Art Festival and the Shinano Omachi Asahi AIR. While supporting artists staying in Omachi, he continues to refine his skills through collaborative works and other activities.

Although he has mainly been active in local art projects, in June of this year, he exhibited works at the art space "Ongoing" in Kichijoji, Tokyo, directed by Ichiro Endo, including collaborations with Yusuke Asai, receiving high praise.
