Shinran and the Nembutsu of the Tohoku Region

Sendai City Museum
Finished
In 2023, we celebrate 850 years since the birth of Shinran, the founder of Jodo Shinshu, and in 2024, it will be 800 years since the writing of Kyogyoshinsho. Based in what is now Ibaraki Prefecture, Shinran taught many disciples, some of whom carried these teachings to Tohoku. This exhibition highlights the development of Jodo Shinshu in Tohoku through cultural treasures from local temples.
