Actor Shiro Sano is active in a wide range of fields, including film, drama, stage, music, and photography. This exhibition is the result of a commission to photograph for the Mori Art Museum's 2024 calendar.
The work for the calendar is based on the outdoor sculpture museum and uses the classic photographic technique of the "pinhole camera. The pinhole camera, which burns images onto film through small holes in the film, produces unique textures and exquisite details. These works perfectly fused old-fashioned techniques and modern perspectives, representing Sano's origins as a photographer.
The exhibition will also include a "History of Sano Shiro's Photography," personally written by Sano, which traces his photographic activities along with the albums kept by the Sano family and the works he has taken over the years.
