Artists

Shoei Matsuda
Shoei Matsuda, born in 1986, started as an anonymous artist on social media in 2010. Amid global unpredictability and rapid tech advancements, Matsuda pioneers new art forms, often changing appearance and pseudonym. "The Laughing Man," Matsuda's recent masterpiece series, draws from the popular "laughing with tears" emoji, originating in Japan in the 1990s. This emoji, conveying conflicting emotions, serves as a timeless symbol of the human spirit in Matsuda's works. The exhibition features "The Laughing Man" series, balloon art "The Big Flat Now," and collaborative works with visual artist Kai Yoshizawa, including 3DCG prints and keychains.
