Shoko Uemura
At the museum, the special exhibition 'Akino Fuku Exhibition' held alongside the 'Shoko Uemura Exhibition' in 1998 received tremendous acclaim. This exhibition marks the first since then dedicated to Shoko Uemura.

Uemura, who co-founded the Soga-kai (now Soga Bijutsu-in) along with Akino Fuku, was brought into the art world through a connection with the art journalist Inoue Yasushi when the Soga Bijutsu was formed. Inoue was involved in the serialization of the historical novel 'Nukata no Ookimi' in 'Sunday Mainichi,' and Kamimura took on the task of creating illustrations for it. In addition to these precious original illustrations, the exhibition will feature eight colored frontispiece original paintings that adorned each chapter of the history novel 'Nukata no Ookimi,' published in a commemorative book after the serialization. Furthermore, some of Uemura's other works will be included.

Also on display will be the original illustrations for the picture book 'Issunboshi' drawn by Akino Fuku in 1965.
