This exhibition presents “position,” a solo show by Vancouver-based Canadian artist Shota Yasuda. The exhibition features two-dimensional works that originate from the sensation of “discomfort” or subtle unease.
People and objects exist while occupying their own “positions” within relationships — always in relation to others and to their surrounding environment. This exhibition focuses on the delicate shifts that occur when those positions move slightly or begin to change, and on the subtle fluctuations in perception that arise from such moments.
By visualizing the small, often unconscious feelings of discomfort we experience in everyday life, the exhibition attempts to reexamine the environments and relationships in which we are situated.
