Special Exhibition Celebrating the 900th Anniversary of Its Construction The Golden Hall of Chūson-ji Temple

Tokyo National Museum
Finished

The Golden Hall of Chuson-ji is the oldest surviving building in the Tohoku region, built by Fujiwara no Kiyohira (1056-1128). In 2024, it will celebrate its 900th anniversary since its construction in the first year of Tenji (1124). To commemorate this, this exhibition will display all 11 national treasures of Buddhist statues enshrined on the central altar in the hall. Additionally, it will showcase a dazzling array of exquisite craftworks, including the national treasure "Golden Copper Karyoubinga Monju Hair Ornament" (Kondou Karyoubinga Monke Man). Furthermore, within the venue, there will be a large 8KCG display that offers a life-sized reproduction of the resplendent Golden Hall of Chuson-ji and its interior.
