The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
Starts in 6 days
An event held during the cherry blossom season in our museum (MOMAT) offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Japanese spring while appreciating masterpieces of Japanese-style paintings. In one room, visitors will find a variety of masterpieces associated with spring, including Kawai Gyokudo’s Parting Spring, a National Important Cultural Property depicting cherry blossoms falling on the water, and folding screens such as Kikuchi Hobun’s Fine Rain on Mt. Yoshino, and Funada Gyokuju’s Flowers (Image of Evening) featuring bright pink petals. Gallery Talks in English will also be offered. A rest area with a view of cherry blossoms will be set up in the front yard of the Museum. In addition to drinks and food for take-out, our museum’s original seasonal goods will be available for purchase. You will be able to enjoy the cherry blossoms in full bloom not only around the Imperial Palace, but also in our museum.
