The Taguchi Art Collection is a collection of contemporary art that has been owned by businessman Hiroshi Taguchi and his daughter, Miwa, since 1990, when they were first attracted to Keith Haring's prints.
This exhibition is the first full-scale presentation of the Taguchi Art Collection in Kyushu, featuring approximately 40 paintings, sculptures, photographs, and videos by leading contemporary international artists from the collection of over 650 works.
While the museum in Kagoshima, which considers itself a kingdom of Western-style paintings, has a large collection of works by modern Japanese masters in its permanent collection, this exhibition will showcase the works of contemporary masters. This exhibition aims to provide visitors with an opportunity to reexamine the present through works of art that most astutely reflect the characteristics of the times.
