Pakupakuan transforms and develops the culture of Chanoyu (Tea Ceremony), which has been fostered for over 400 years, from the present to the future, from Japan to the world.
The popular annual "Summer Night Tea Ceremony" has been held repeatedly under the themes of "In Praise of Shadows" "The Beauty of Yugen” "Seizan Hakuun (Immovable mountain & moving cloud)" and "The Phantom of the Tea Room". This year's theme is “Ko-un, Ryu-sui” and a wide variety of works by talented artists will be gathered under one roof. The venue will be adorned with vibrant floral arrangements by Shoshun Yamada, a flower master. On the first day, a “Sermon Tea Ceremony" will be held by Tatsuo Yoshida, vice-chief priest of Banryu-ji Temple of the Jodo sect, On the second day, Tatsuro Sasaki will hold a sake-tasting event featuring seasonal sake and sake vessels made by artists.
