Symbols of Celebration in Arts and Crafts

Kanazawa Nakamura Memorial Museum
Finished
The term "kotohogu" is written to express congratulations or blessings, indicating the act of uttering words of celebration and joy. What scenes come to mind when thinking about moments of celebration and joy? In the context of life, this could include events such as birth, growth, coming of age, marriage, childbirth, and longevity. In the realm of social life, achievements in academics or career advancements, the realization of goals and aspirations, could be celebrated. There are numerous occasions for celebration throughout a person's life, including seasonal events and milestones.

The feelings of blessing and well-wishing embedded in words are preserved in written form. Additionally, people have adorned their surroundings with patterns and designs that convey their wishes and blessings. This is a way of expressing celebration. This exhibition will display crafts and paintings that carry decorative elements imbued with blessings and aspirations, symbolizing the meaning of celebrating the New Year.
