Taichi Watanabe

Taichi Watanabe, a graduate student of oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts, was born in 1997 in Tokyo. His works concern themselves with the theme of "movable windows," pursuing pictorial expressions as an entry to contemplations of space. Major solo exhibitions include "Where I want." (Inherit Gallery, Tokyo, 2022) and "in and out" (Cage Gallery, Tokyo, 2022). Even with the common motif of windows, his works display changes reflecting the realizations found in his daily production. Watanabe has always explored a form of painting expanding the possibilities of the plane in pictorial expression. In this exhibition, he builds on previous works to depict the sky outside the window as a new expression of the "window" itself.
