Taisho Era - Japan of 100 Years Ago Through Official Documents

National Archives of Japan Tokyo Main Office
Finished
About 100 years ago, during the Taisho Era (1912-1926), the establishment of parliamentary politics based on political parties, the realization of universal male suffrage, the advancement of women into society, the improvement of education and the protection of children, and the establishment of the League of Nations were all developments that have a connection to our present day. At the same time, events such as World War I and the Great Kanto Earthquake were taking place that are still remembered by many people today. This exhibition introduces what Japan was like about 100 years ago, using documents from the collection of the National Archives of Japan.
