Takako Yoshimura "Unkonー Stories Without End"

Tokyo Garden Terrace Kioicho

Takako Yoshimura
Using stone and glass, sculptor Takako Yoshimura tries to express the world of "Kuu," which is formed by faint connections without substance. In the Chinese poem by a Zen monk, "Zhonghua Wakagi Shishou," it is written, "Clouds arise from stones, and stones are called cloud roots." When water vapor hits a rock on a high mountain, it comes to life, rises, and changes into various forms" This is what clouds are. The root of the elusive cloud, or “cloud root,” is a stone with an overwhelming presence, just the opposite. Yoshimura, who has been using stone and glass as materials for her works for a long time, has been expressing “something” that we know is there but slips through our hands when we reach out to touch it.
This time, "Unkon" is expressed as a story of endless stones and clouds.
